holy sweater

my mom bought me some cute stuff at the roxy/quiksilver store in park city. dude, i could go nuts in that store...anyway, she bought me a cropped sweater/cardigan thingy, and at the time of purchase i did not notice that the sweater had thumb holes at the sleeve cuffs. i guess that's kinda awesome, but it's a little weird. like, it reminds me of the days (junior high, maybe?) when kids would cut the toe off a funky sock , cut a little hole for the thumb, and then wear it like a glove thingy. know what i mean? i'm pretty sure i remember certain people doing that, or i could have just seen that on saved by the bell or something. so yeah, i went about my business at work today with my thumbs through the holes and i must say, i am a fan.

holiday woes

i usually find myself in the holiday spirit once mid-december rolls around, but not this time, and i'm *still* not feelin it. i'm not even that bummed about it either, which has me a bit perplexed. perhaps my lack of Christmas cheer can be attributed to the unseasonably warm weather (until about two days ago). maybe it's because this is the first year i've had a normal full-time job where i have to work just as hard right up until Christmas as i do any other day. maybe i have nothing to blame other than my frugality - i never buy decorations, although i did spring for a roll of wrapping paper the other day, which, by the way, was a huge mistake only because i think i'm still young enough to get away with wrapping gifts in newspaper. i got a few holiday cards, all from my coworkers with photos of their children. i guess there's nothing wrong with putting your kids on cards, but i'm like, dude, i don't even know your kids, and now they're on my fridge because i don't have the heart to just chuck the card. maybe this lack of hope/enthusiasm is only due to the fact that i'm getting older, and that's just the way things go.

anyway, i'm going to park city, utah with my family on saturday. i'm sure my holiday woes will be cured once i see all that snow. i'll be shreddin the pow on Christmas day for sure.

this guy is for real

our firm has received thiry or so christmas/holiday cards. here is one that kinda, well, stood out among the bunch:

and let's not forget the inside of the card

i have no idea who this guy is, but i checked out his website and get this - he's from alabama. not exactly what i was expecting. apparently his holiday cards are something of a mockery...i kinda think it rocks, i mean, he's old and has a lot of money. at least he didn't include a page-long letter about his family and how his grandkids are smarter than you/yours. i hate those. anyway, i found this post about his 2005 card: http://philosophicalawyer.blogspot.com/2005/12/merry-excessive-christmaswith-big-old.html

woooooo

you may have noticed that i've stopped updating my website. i can't really attribute my lack of journal entries on agurley.net to laziness, or to a lack of noteworthy events in my life, but eh...i just was tired of maintaining it. plus, it all costs money, which is no good. this however, is totally free. freakin' sweet. i shoulda signed up for this a while ago. anyway, enjoy my future rants, raves, & random thoughts. they'll be much more frequent, i assure you.
